Enforcer Peacekeeper Finished!

So I got the Enforcer Peacekeeper finished and all based up. These model was a blast to work on and I might do a couple more but in some different color schemes.

Great models and could represent a ton of models in other games.

Martian Spider & Handler Completed

Small update today, I finished up the Martian handler to go along with the Mutant Spider that I posted the other day.

The clear plastic bubble helmets, while awesome, are a pain to get to go on properly. You cant use super glue as it will possibly fog upon drying and ruin the clear effect.

Anyway here are some photos:

Mars Attacks.....Bugs can get HUGE!!

Mars Attacks is a great out of the box board/miniatures game. The most fun part about the line and game is the imagery that is pulled from the old Topps comic and trading cards.

We have all seen the fun yet horrible Mars Attacks movie with Jack Nicholson, but there is far more going on than just that.

Here is one of my favorite models from Mars Attacks: The Miniatures Games.

And these huge creepy crawlers are not left to their own devices in the game. They are guided by privileged, at least they think so, handlers. Here is the WIP of one of those handlers.

Until next time,

Circle Orboros Commission Complete

Its done!

Finally finished up the unit of Warpborn Skin Walkers for the Circle Orbors Commission that I started at the end of last year.

Client seems to be very happy with the results and that is the most important thing.

Here is the finished unit:

The armor on the Circle Orboros models is pretty much the worst thing I have ever painted. It may not seem like much, but the intricate trim on these armor plates is ridiculous. They look cool when done, but I don't know if I could do army for myself with that type of armor.

Until next time,

DreadBall Xtreme Convict Team - Adepticon Demos

So Adepticon is right around the corner, if you don't know what or where Adepticon is check it out here:

 Adepticon 2015
Adepticon 2015

This is a great show for any miniatures gamer, tons of events that go all through the night, as well as a large painting competition called the Crystal Brush.

As I will be running the Mantic Games booth at Adepticon we needed to make sure we had a demo set of the new DreadBall Xtreme game. This product will release at Adepticon and is a blast to play.

Here are some photos of the Convicts team from the starter set:

There are a couple of knocked down models to do as well, but this will be the team that is used for one side of the game.

If you haven't tried DreadBall you really should. It's a fantastic game that plays quickly and was developed for league play so that your not just playing what seems like the same game over and over again.

Until next time,

WIP - Mantic Games Enforcer Peacekeeper Update

Not too much time painting these last few days, but I did manage to get my Enforcer to about 80% done!

These will be done to a table top gaming standard, nothing crazy.

Yellow is much easier to paint with an airbrush.....

Sadly I also just realized I don't have the bases for these guys.....

I pop into the local game store near me and pick up some kind of base from the Secret Weapon line. But we will see.

Till next time!

Mantic Games - Enforcer Plastics

One of the perks of working for a gaming company is that sometimes you get your hands on models early, and this past week I was able to get a set of the new Peacekeeper plastics from the Enforcers Deadzone range.

Now some KS backers will already have these but they will be released in next month to all trade stores.

Here is a couple of pics of the sprues:

With these models in hard plastic more conversions are possible and more freedom in how you want them posed, much better than plastic resin in my opinion.

You will also notice that there is no pesky round disk at the feet of these models, and that is AWESOME! Now I can put my Enforcers (and future models from our ranges) onto scenic bases or use them in dioramas.

My first Enforcer Peacekeeper is ready for priming:

Very cool model, goes together great, and would make a fantastic alternative to a Space Marine terminator. I will hopefully have paint on this fella in the next couple of days, thinking about a deep yellow with a contrasting black scheme....

Till next time!

Circle Orboros Commission

This commission was for a clients son for his birthday. I am almost finish with just 4 more Warpborn Skinwalkers to finish up. Nothing fancy, the client only wanted to have some tabletop ready minis, so we did some basic colors with washes to add some depth. I added some further highlights to some of the more characterful models in the army. The models were assembled by the client.

Hope that these serve his son bravely on the battlefield!

Now for some pics.....

Kaya, the Wildborne

Feral Warpwolf

Winter Argus

Argus x2

Gorax

Blackclad Wayfarer

Warpborn Skinwalker (Leader)

Brun Cragback and Lug

Well now I am off to finish the last 4 models on this commission and start the next one.

Happy Painting!

2015 Hobby Project #1 - Normans for SAGA

So to follow up with one of my goals for 2015, I will be jumping into SAGA, a game by Gripping Beast and Studio Tomahawk, that I have been hearing more and more about. Some close friends of mine have some models and terrain and what better reason to try something out right?

Check out Gripping Beast at http://www.grippingbeast.com/

This game sparked my interest in that it is a skirmish game with the possibility of a very low model count from what I was accustomed too. The time period the game is based, England during the time of the Viking invasions, would also be a new and exciting adventure for me. Maybe I will do a review of the system once I have played a few games.

The faction I will begin to play with is the Normans. Everyone I know has or is doing Vikings, and I really liked the idea of being able to field an entire force that is mounted. Speed is a huge factor in most war games and is something that I always gravitate towards when figuring out what to play.

Have you played SAGA before? What did you think of the game? I would love to hear feedback on the game and see some great models painted up to keep me inspired!

On Friday I hope to have some models assembled and ready for painting.

My Hobby Goals for 2015 & My First Post!

It seems that each year passes faster than the next, and we never truly accomplish all that we set out to do.

This year I hope to broaden my horizons a little bit and venture into some projects a little outside my wheel house. Normally I stick to the fantasy and sci-fi genres when it comes to miniatures and miniature games. This primarily has come from my 6 year stint with Games-Workshop and now my current employment with Mantic Games. But in 2015 I want to do more historical minis as well as play some of the fantastic games I keep hearing about like Bolt Action and SAGA.

My 2015 Hobby/Gaming Goals:

- Paint a SAGA faction (Normans)
- Paint an army for Bolt Action (not sure on which one)
- Finish painting my Chaos Warrior Blight Kings unit (first three are shown below)
- Enter at least one piece into the Crystal Brush at Adepticon
- Try to paint at least one model for myself for every commission model that I paint (it always seems that I paint too much for other people and forget that I like to play with toys too lol)
- Play in at least one tournament/league or event for something (Cold Wars may solve this with SAGA)
- Learn to paint NMM (I am not pressed on the technique, but it does interest me and would like to know how)
- Upgrade my airbrush setup and become more proficient with using it
- Learn to take better photos of my minis
- Post on this Blog at least 2-3 times a week

For now I think that is about all for now, lets work through this list first lol.

Now for some painted mens!

Here are a couple of Historical figures I had completed at the end of 2014:

Philip of Macedonia

Macedonian Royal Guard (Silver Shield)

My first project of 2015 will be to complete a SAGA army to hopefully be able to play in some of the events at Cold Wars in March. We will see that will be a tight window, but I would really like to get a nice painted army to play with. I will be doing Normans most likely so we will see what shapes up.

And here are some other random things I had done in 2014:

Chaos Warrior Blight Kings

Khador Behemoth

Some Malifaux Figs

That's it for now, hope you enjoyed the pics and here is to a hobby filled 2015!!
